Abu Darda came in to see me while he was angry, so I asked, "What has angered you?"He replied, "By Allah, I do not recognize anything of Muhammad's ﷺ community except that they pray together."
دخل علي أبو الدرداء وهو مغضب، فقلت: ما أغضبك؟ فقال: والله ما أعرف من أمة محمد ﷺ شيئا إلا أنهم يصلون جميعا.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on the adhan (650), from Umar bin Hafs, who said, our father narrated to us, who said, Amash narrated to us, who said, I heard Salim say, I heard Umm Darda, and he mentioned something similar.Salim is Salim bin Abu Jaad, and Umm Darda here is the younger one, the successor, not the elder one, the companion, because the elder Umm Darda died during the lifetime of Abu Darda, while the younger one lived on for a long time after him. Abu Hatim asserted that Salim bin Abu Jaad never met Abu Darda, and on this basis he did not meet the elder Umm Darda either.The younger one's name was Hujaymah, and the elder one's name was Khayrah.
