The Prophet ﷺ said, "Prayer in congregation surpasses individual prayer, or a person's prayer alone, by twenty-five times."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: تفضل صلاة الجماعة على صلاة الفد، أو صلاة الرجل وحده خمسا وعشرين صلاة.
Bazzar narrated it in Kashf (459) from Abdul-Malik bin Muhammad Raqashi, who said, Hajjaj bin Minhal narrated to us, who said, Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, from Asim, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Bazzar said, "We do not know of anyone who narrated it from Asim, from Anas, except Hammad bin Salama." He said, "Abdul-Salam bin Shuayb bin Habhab narrated to us, from his father, from Anas," and he mentioned something similar.I say, Tabarani also narrated it in Awsat (2199) from Ahmad, who said, "Wahb bin Yahya bin Zimam Allaf narrated to us," who said, "Abdul-Salam bin Shuayb bin Habhab narrated to us" with the same wording. Tabarani said, "No one narrated this hadith from Shuayb except his son Abdul-Salam." I say, it is not as he said, for the hadith has another chain of transmission, as you have seen.Haythami said in Majma (38/2), "The men of Bazzar's narration are reliable men." I say, it is as he said, except for Abdul-Salam bin Shuayb, for he is "truthful" as stated in Taqrib. Ahmad, the shaykh of Tabarani, is Ahmad bin Yahya bin Zuhayr Tustari, a reliable and ascetic man, who has a biography in Tadhkirat Huffaz, and he died in the year 310 AH.I say, as for what has come regarding the superiority of praying in congregation over praying alone by twenty-five degrees, and in another hadith by twenty-seven, there is no contradiction between the two, since it is possible that Allah first made it twenty-five degrees, then added two more parts, making it twenty-seven. And Allah is possessor of great bounty.
