Some men used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ with their lower garments tied around their necks like young boys, and he said to the women, "Do not raise your heads until the men have settled into a sitting position."
كان رجال يصلون مع النبي ﷺ عاقدي أزرهم على أعناقهم كهيئة الصبيان، وقال للنساء: لا ترفعن رؤوسكن حتى يستوى الرجال جلوسا.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Prayer (362) from Musaddad, who said, Yahya (he is Ibn Saeed) narrated to us, from Sufyan, who said, Abu Hazim narrated to me, from Sahl, and he mentioned it.In the version of Muhammad bin Kathir from Sufyan (814), it says, "It was said to the women, 'Do not raise your heads.'"Muslim narrated it in the Book of Prayer (441) through Waki, from Sufyan, and in it, "A speaker said, 'O women, do not raise your heads.'" It was said that the speaker was the Prophet ﷺ, and it was also said that the speaker was Bilal, conveying it on behalf of the Prophet ﷺ.Ibn Khuzayma (1695) and Ibn Hibban (2216) narrated it through Bishr bin Mufaddal, from Abdul-Rahman bin Ishaq, from Abu Hazim, from him, who said, the women were instructed, during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, not to raise their heads in prayer until the men had settled into their places on the ground, because their garments were narrow.
