Anas bin Malik reported,
The Prophet ﷺ was asked about the major sins. He said, "Associating partners with Allah, disobedience to parents, killing a soul, and bearing false witness."In another narration, "Speaking falsehood."

سئل النبي ﷺ عنه الكبائر قال: الإشراك بالله، وعقوق الوالدين، وقتل النفس، وشهادة الزور. وفي رواية: قول الزور
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Testimonies (2653), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (88), both through Shubah, from Ubaydullah bin Abu Bakr bin Anas, from Anas, who related the hadith.In a version reported by Muslim, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the major sins, or was asked about the major sins, and he said, "Shirk against Allah, killing a person, and disobedience to parents." Then he said, "Shall I not inform you of the greatest of the major sins?" He said, "False speech," or "false testimony." Shubah said, "I am most inclined to think it was 'false testimony.'"
