The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best rows for men are the front rows, and the worst are the back rows. The best rows for women are the back rows, and the worst are the front rows."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: خير صفوف الرجال مقدمها وشرها مؤخرها، وخير صفوف النساء مؤخرها، وشرها مقدمها.
Ibn Majah (1001) narrated it from Ali bin Muhammad, who said, Waki told us, from Sufyan, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, from Jabir, and he related the hadith. Its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, for there is disagreement about relying on him, but his hadith is hasan specifically when it comes to corroborating narrations. Busiri also graded it hasan in Zawaid.Imam Ahmad (14123) narrated it from Abdul-Samad, who said, Zaida told us, who said, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel told us, with the same wording, adding, "O women, when the men prostrate, lower your eyes so that you do not see the men's private parts," due to the narrowness of their waist-wraps. Busiri, in his Zawaid, attributed it to Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba in his Musnad, from Husayn bin Ali, from Zaida, with the same wording, including that addition at the end.
