My father had stopped praying with us. I asked him, "Why don't you pray with us?"He replied, "You shorten the prayer too much."I said, "But what about the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, 'Among you are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs'?"He answered, "I have heard Abdullah bin Masud say that." Then he led us in prayer, taking three times as long as you take in your prayer.Wazad added in another narration that he would remain at length in the bowing and prostration.
كان أبي قد ترك الصلاة معنا، قلت: مالك لا تصلي معنا؟ قال: إنكم تخففون الصلاة، قلت: فأين قول النبي ﷺ: إن فيكم الضعيف والكبير وذا الحاجة؟ قال: قد سمعت عبد الله بن مسعود يقول ذلك، ثم صلى بنا ثلاثة أضعاف ما تصلون. وزاد في رواية: وكان يمكث في الركوع والسجود.
It was narrated by Ibn Khuzayma (1607), Sarraj in his Musnad (241) - edited by Athari, Tabarani in al-Kabir (10/264), and in al-Awsat - Majma Bahrayn (732), and Ibn Arabi in his Mujam (932), all through routes from Abu Ahmad Zubayri, who said, Abdul-Jabbar bin Abbas Shibami Hamdani told us, from Ammar Duhni, from Ibrahim Taymi, and he related it. The addition is found in Tabarani's version.Haythami said in al-Majma (2/73), "Tabarani related it in al-Kabir and al-Awsat, and its narrators are trustworthy."Its chain is hasan because of Abdul-Jabbar bin Abbas and his teacher Ammar bin Muawiya Duhni, for the two of them make the hadith hasan.
