The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to instruct us to keep the prayer brief, yet he would lead us in prayer reciting Surah as-Saffat.
كان رسول الله ﷺ يأمر بالتخفيف، ويؤمنا بالصافات.
Nasai (826) reported it from Ismail bin Masud, who said, Khalid bin Harith narrated to us, from Ibn Abu Dhib, who said, Harith bin Abdul-Rahman informed me, from Salim bin Abdullah, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Harith bin Abdul-Rahman, who is "truthful," while the rest of the narrators are trustworthy. Ibn Khuzayma (1606) and Ibn Hibban (1817) graded it sahih. Ahmad (4796, 4989) and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (13194) also reported it, all of them through routes from Ibn Abu Dhib, and in some of its routes it reads, "He used to lead us in Fajr with Saaffat."See "The Recitation at Dawn."
