Anas bin Malik reported,

Muaz bin Jabal used to lead his people in prayer. One day, Haram entered the mosque to pray with the congregation, intending afterward to go water his palm trees. When he saw that Muaz was prolonging the prayer, he shortened his own prayer, then left to water his palms.After Muaz finished the prayer, someone told him, "Haram came into the mosque, and when he saw you prolonging the prayer, he cut his own prayer short and went off to water his palms."Muaz said, "He is a hypocrite. Does he rush through the prayer just to water his palm trees?"Haram then went to the Prophet ﷺ, with Muaz present, and said, "Prophet of Allah, I wanted to water some palm trees of mine, so I entered the mosque to pray with the people. When he prolonged the prayer, I shortened mine and went off to water my palms, and now he claims I am a hypocrite."The Prophet ﷺ turned to Muaz and said, "Are you one who drives people away? Are you one who drives people away? Do not make it long for them. Recite Sabbih isma rabbika al-ala and Wa-sh-shamsi wa duhaha and the like."

عن أنس بن مالك قال

كان معاذ بن جبل يؤم قومه، فدخل حرام، وهو يريد أن يسقي نخله، فدخل المسجد ليصلي مع القوم، فلما رأى معاذا طول، تجوز في صلاته، ولحق بنخله يسقيه، فلما قضى معاذ الصلاة، قيل له: إن حراما يدخل المسجد، فلما رآك طولت، تجوز في صلاته، ولحق بنخله يسقيه، فقال: إنه لمنافق، أيعجل عن الصلاة من أجل سقي نخله؟ قال: فجاء حرام إلى النبي ﷺ، ومعاذ عنده، فقال: يا نبي الله، إني أريد أن أسقي نخلا لي، فدخلت المسجد لأصلي مع القوم، فلما طول، تجوزت في صلاتي، ولحقت بنخلي أسقيه، فزعم أني منافق، فأقبل النبي ﷺ على معاذ، فقال: أفتان أنت؟ أفتان أنت؟ لا تطول بهم، اقرأ ب {سبح اسم ربك الأعلى}، {والشمس وضحاها} ونحو هما.
