When the first emigrants arrived at al-Usbah, a place in Quba, before the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Salim, the freed slave of Abu Huzaifa, used to lead them in prayer, as he had memorized more of the Quran than any of them.
لما قدم المهاجرون الأولون العصبة موضع بقباء- قبل مقدم رسول الله ﷺ كان يؤمهم سالم مولى أبي حذيفة، وكان أكثرهم قرآنا.
Sahih. Bukhari related it in the Book of Adhan (692) from Ibrahim bin Munzir, who said, Anas bin Iyad narrated to us, from Ubaydullah, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he recounted it.Abu Dawud also related it (588) from Haytham bin Khalid Juhani, who said, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Ubaydullah, with the same wording, and Haytham added, "Among them were Umar bin Khattab and Abu Salama bin Abdul-Asad."
