The hands prostrate just as the face prostrates. So when one of you places his face down, let him place his hands down, and when he raises it, let him raise them.
إن اليدين تسجدان كما يسجد الوجه، فإذا وضع أحدكم وجهه فليضع يديه، وإذا رفعه فليرفعهما.
Abu Dawud (892) narrated it from Imam Ahmad, and it is also in his Musnad (4501), and Nasai (1092) narrated it from Ziyad bin Ayub Dulawayh. Both of them narrated from Ismail bin Ulaya, [who said] Ayub informed us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he related it similarly. Its isnad is sahih, and Ibn Khuzayma (630) declared it sahih, as did Hakim (1/226), and Bayhaqi (2/101) narrated it on his authority. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs."Then Bayhaqi (2/102) narrated it through the route of Wahib, who said, "Ayub narrated it to us," with the same wording, except that he explicitly stated that it was raised to the Prophet ﷺ, saying, "from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet ﷺ." This isnad is also sahih.Bayhaqi said, "This is what he said. Ismail bin Ulaya narrated it from Ayub and said he raised it to the Prophet, while Hammad bin Zayd narrated it from Ayub as stopping at Ibn Umar, and Ibn Abu Layla narrated it from Nafi as raised to the Prophet."
