The Prophet ﷺ was commanded to prostrate on seven body parts and not to tuck up his hair or his clothing. These are the forehead, the two hands, the two knees, and the two feet.
أمر النبي ﷺ أن يسجد على سبعة أعضاء، ولا يكف شعرا، ولا ثوبا: الجبهة واليدين والركبتين والرجلين.
Bukhari narrated it in adhan (809), and Muslim in prayer (490), both via Amr bin Dinar, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, as mentioned above.Abdullah bin Tawus narrated from his father, from Ibn Abbas, and in it, "and on the forehead" - and he gestured with his hand toward his nose - "and the hands, the knees, and the tips of the feet, and we should not gather up our clothes or hair."The two Shaykhs, Bukhari (812) and Muslim, both narrated it via Wahib, from Abdullah bin Tawus, in similar wording.In another version, "and we should not fold up a garment or hair."His word "nakfit" comes from "al-kaft," which means gathering together, carrying the same meaning as "kaff" (restraining). This is drawn from His saying, "Have We not made the earth a gathering place" [Mursalat 77:25], meaning it gathers people together in their life and in their death.What is meant here is that one should not gather up his clothes or his hair during sujud. The wisdom behind this, as has been said, is that if he lifts his clothes and hair away from touching the ground, he comes to resemble someone arrogant.
