Abdullah bin Umar reported,

A man from the Ansar came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have some questions to ask."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Sit down."Then a man from Thakeef came and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have some questions to ask."The Prophet ﷺ said, "The man from the Ansar came before you."The Ansari said, "He is a stranger, and a stranger has a right, so begin with him."So the Prophet ﷺ turned to the Thaqafi and said, "If you wish, I will answer what you intended to ask, and if you wish, you may ask me and I will inform you."He said, "Messenger of Allah, rather, answer me about what I was going to ask."The Prophet ﷺ said, "You came to ask me about bowing, prostration, prayer, and fasting."The man said, "No, by the One who sent you with the truth, you have not missed anything that was on my mind."The Prophet ﷺ said, "When you bow, place your palms on your knees, spread your fingers apart, and remain still until every limb settles into its place. When you prostrate, press your forehead firmly to the ground and do not peck like a bird. Pray at the beginning of the day and at its end."The man asked, "Prophet of Allah, what if I pray between those times?"He replied, "Then you are one who prays."
