The Prophet ﷺ led us in the dawn prayer in Mecca. He began reciting surah al-Muminun, and when he reached the mention of Musa and Harun, or the mention of Isa, a fit of coughing overtook the Prophet ﷺ, so he bowed. Abdullah bin Saaib was present at that.
صلى لنا النبي ﷺ الصبح بمكة، فاستفتح سورة(المؤمنين) حتى جاء ذكر موسى وهارون، أو ذكر عيسى أخذت النبي ﷺ سعلة فركع، وعبد الله بن السائب حاضر ذلك.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Prayer (455), by way of Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, saying, I heard Muhammad bin Abbad bin Jafar say, Abu Salama bin Sufyan, Abdullah bin Amr bin As, and Abdullah bin Musayab informed me, from Abdullah bin Saaib, and he mentioned the hadith.Muslim said, In the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq it says, "So he shortened it and bowed." And in his hadith it says, "Abdullah bin Amr," without saying, "bin As."I say, this is as he said, for the hadith scholars have said that "bin As" is a mistake, and the correct version omits it, since this is not Abdullah bin Amr bin As the companion, but rather Abdullah bin Amr al-Hijazi. Bukhari mentioned this in his Tarikh, as did Ibn Abu Hatim and a great many of the earlier and later hadith scholars, and Nawawi mentioned it as well. Likewise Ibn Khuzayma (546) also said, after narrating the hadith, that this is not Abdullah bin Amr bin As al-Sahmi.
