Ibn Majah (841) narrated it from Walid bin Amr bin Sakin, who said, Yusuf bin Yaqub Silai told us, Husayn Muallim told us, from Amr bin Shuayb, and he related it as mentioned. Imam Bukhari also narrated it in Juz Qira Khalf al-Imam (15) from Hilal bin Bishr, who said, Yusuf bin Yaqub told us, in the same way. Its chain is hasan on account of Amr bin Shuayb.Imam Ahmad narrated it (6903) from Nasr bin Bab, from Hajjaj, from Amr, in the same way, and he repeated it three times, meaning, "It is deficient, then it is deficient, then it is deficient." Hajjaj here is Ibn Artaah, who is "truthful but makes many mistakes and practices tadlis." As for Nasr bin Bab, people spoke of him harshly, but Imam Ahmad held a good opinion of him and said, "There was nothing wrong with him." When Abdullah said to him, "I heard Abu Khaythama, meaning Wahib bin Harb, say that Nasr bin Bab is a liar," the Imam said, "I seek Allah's forgiveness, a liar? They only criticized him because he narrated from Ibrahim Sayigh, and Ibrahim was from his hometown, so it is not implausible that he heard from him." See Tajil (1102).I say, he did not narrate anything objectionable, and moreover he was corroborated in his narration, as found in Ibn Majah, and he has other corroborations in Imam Ahmad (7016), who narrated it from Abdul-Qudus bin Bakr bin Khunays Abu Jahm, who said, Hajjaj told us, from Amr bin Shuayb, and he related the same. Among his corroborations as well is what Imam Bukhari narrated in Juz Qira (11) from Musa bin Ismail, who said, Aban bin Yazid told us, who said, Amir Ahwal told us, from Amr bin Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Every prayer in which the Mother of the Book is not recited is deficient, deficient, deficient."
