Azami 1959

Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan (743), and Muslim in the Book of Prayer (399), both from the hadith of Shuba, who said, "I heard Qatada narrating from Anas." The wording given here is Bukhari's. In a version found in Muslim, with the addition of Uthman, he said, "I never heard any of them recite "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful"." In another version, "They would begin with "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds", not mentioning "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" at the beginning of the recitation nor at its end."Malik narrated it in the Book of Prayer (30) from Humayd Tawil, from Anas, who said, "I stood behind Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, and none of them would recite 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' when beginning the prayer."
