Ahmad (16968) (22497), Tabarani in al-Kabir (3/312), Ibn Qani in Mujam al-Sahaba (2/316), and Ibn Abu Shayba (1/390) all narrated it through Muawiya bin Salih, from Yunus bin Sayf, from Harith bin Ghutayf, or Ghutayf bin Harith, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Yunus bin Sayf, whom Daraqutni and others deemed trustworthy, and Ibn Saad said, "He was well known." Muawiya bin Salih is Ibn Hudayr bin Saeed al-Hadrami al-Himsi, one of the men found in Muslim's Sahih. Abu Zura, Nasai, Ajli, and others deemed him trustworthy, though Yahya bin Saeed criticized him. Nevertheless his hadith is hasan when he does not err.Haythami said in al-Majma (2/283), "Ahmad and Tabarani narrated it, and its men are trustworthy."There is no room for doubt as to whether Harith bin Ghutayf was a companion or not, since it has been established that he saw the Prophet ﷺ praying while placing his right hand over his left. As for whether he was Harith bin Ghutayf or Ghutayf bin Harith, this uncertainty comes from Muawiya bin Salih, and Ibn Sakan reported from Ibn Main that the correct form is Harith bin Ghutayf.
