Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih (1670) from Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Mamar informed us, from Mansur, from Abbad bin Anis, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned the hadith. In it is Abbad bin Anis, whom no one declared trustworthy except Ibn Hibban, who mentioned him among his trustworthy narrators (5/141).Abu Salt corroborated him, narrating from Abu Hurairah. Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat, "Majma Bahrayn" (9/2) (623), from Muhammad bin Muaz Halabi, who said, Abdullah bin Maslama Qanabi narrated to us, who said, Khalid bin Abu Salt narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, with the wording, "The muadhins will have the longest necks among the people on the Day of Resurrection, and there is nothing that hears him but will testify for him on the Day of Resurrection." He said, No one narrated it from Khalid except Qanabi.Haythami said in his Majma (1/326), Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat, and in it is Abu Salt Basri. Mizzi said, Ali bin Zayd narrated from him, and he mentioned no one else narrating from him. But his son Khalid bin Abu Salt narrated from him, as found in Tabarani in this hadith, and the rest of its narrators are declared trustworthy. End of quote.I say, with this corroboration the hadith rises to the level of hasan.His saying, "the longest of the people in necks," has several meanings which Baghawi mentioned in Sharh al-Sunnah (2/277) and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih. Among these meanings is that the muadhin was the cause of the prayers being performed at their appointed times, so everyone who responded to his call and performed his prayer at the known times, the muadhin has a share of the reward without anything being diminished from their own rewards. Thus the muadhins will be, on the Day of Resurrection, those who raise their heads highest due to the length of their necks, and this is more fitting than any other interpretation.
