Abu Yaala (2/367) (1935 Athari edition) narrated it, he said, Abu Khaythama told us, Muhammad bin Hazim (who is Abu Muawiya Darir) told us, Dawud bin Abu Hind told us, from Abu Nadra, from Jabir, and he mentioned it in a similar manner.And by the route of Abu Yaala, Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih (1529) in a similar manner. Ibn Abu Shayba (1/402) followed him in this, as did Saadan bin Nasr with Bayhaqi (1/375), both of them narrating it from Abu Muawiya in a similar manner.There is another route for it with Ahmad (14949), from Abul-Jawwab, Ammar bin Raziq told us, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ equipped an army one night until half the night had passed, or nearly so. Then he came out and said, 'The people have prayed and gone to sleep, while you are still waiting for this prayer. Know that you remain in a state of prayer as long as you wait for it.'"This is a strong corroborating narration, and the narrators of both chains are reliable. Abul-Jawwab is Ahwas bin Jawwab, with the jim having a fatha and the waw doubled, the Sabi. Ibn Main deemed him reliable, and Muslim narrated from him. Abu Hatim said, "Truthful," and the Hafiz placed him in the category of "truthful, though he sometimes erred."Abu Sufyan is Talha bin Nafi Wasiti, who is "truthful." Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (1/312), "Ahmad and Abu Yaala narrated it, and the narrators of Abu Yaala's version are the narrators of the Sahih."
