I asked, "Messenger of Allah, Ibn Judaan in the days of ignorance used to maintain ties of kinship and feed the poor. Will that benefit him?"He replied, "It will not benefit him. He never once said, 'My Lord, forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgment.'"
قلت: يا رسول الله ابن جدعان كان في الجاهلية يصل الرحم ويطعم المسكين فهل ذاك نافعه؟ قال: لا ينفعه إنه لم يقل يوما رب اغفر لي خطيئتي يوم الدين.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (214), from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Hafs bin Ghiyath related to us, from Dawud, from Shaybi, from Masruq, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it.Ibn Jadan is Abdullah bin Jadan Taymi Qurashi, one of the famous generous men of the Arabs in the pre-Islamic era, and he was a relative of Ayesha.
