She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never prayed a prayer at its later time until Allah took him."
قالت: ما صلى رسول الله ﷺ صلاة لوقتها الآخر حتى قبضه الله.
Hakim narrated it in al-Mustadrak (1/190) and Bayhaqi transmitted it from him in al-Sunan (1/435), from Muhammad bin Salih bin Hani, from Husayn bin Fadl Bajali, from Hashim bin Qasim, from Layth bin Saad, from Abu Nadr, from Amra, from Ayesha, who related the hadith. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaikhs." Bayhaqi cited it in al-Khilafiyat (1/525) and quoted Hakim's statement that it was sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaikhs.I say, this is the most sahih of the chains for this hadith. The fact that the companions of Layth differed over it does not weaken what has been established as sahih. Among them was Qutayba bin Saeed, who narrated from Layth, from Khalid bin Yazid, from Saeed bin Abu Hilal, from Ishaq bin Umar, from Ayesha, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never prayed a prayer at its later time twice until Allah took him." Tirmidhi narrated it (174) from Qutayba bin Saeed with this chain, and said, "This is a gharib hadith, and its chain is not connected." Hakim also narrated it (1/435), and Bayhaqi transmitted it from him in al-Sunan (1/435), through the route of Muhammad bin Shazan, from Qutayba bin Saeed, with the same wording. Bayhaqi said, "This is mursal, Ishaq bin Umar never met Ayesha." End of quote.Zaylai quoted in Nasb Raya (1/244) from Ibn Abu Hatim, from his father, that Ishaq bin Umar narrated from Musa bin Wardan, and that Saeed bin Abu Hilal, who narrated from him, is majhul. Ibn Qattan likewise said in his book that it is munqati, and that Ishaq bin Umar is majhul. End of quote.Daraqutni narrated it (1/249) through the route of Mualla bin Abdul-Rahman, from Layth bin Saad, with similar wording. Bayhaqi said, "This Mualla is not trustworthy, he used to fabricate hadith."The hadith has another chain, from the report of Waqidi, from Rabia bin Uthman, from Imran bin Abu Anas, from Abu Salama, from Ayesha, who related the hadith. Hakim said, "This is another supporting witness from the report of Waqidi, and it does not meet the criteria of the book," then he traced it back through him.In summary, if the chain of Hashim bin Qasim is established as sahih, and he is trustworthy, from Layth, then it should not be undermined by daif chains.
