A man asked the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, how many prayers has Allah obligated upon His servants?"He replied, "Allah has obligated five prayers upon His servants."The man asked, "Messenger of Allah, is there anything required before or after them?"He replied, "Allah has obligated five prayers upon His servants."So the man swore that he would not add anything to them, nor leave anything out.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If he is truthful, he will surely enter Paradise."
سأل رجل نبي الله ﷺ فقال: يا رسول الله، كم فرض الله على عباده من الصلوات؟ قال: افترض الله على عباده صلوات خمسا قال: يا رسول الله، هل قبلهن أو بعدهن من شيء؟ قال: افترض الله على عباده صلوات خمسا فحلف الرجل لا يزيد عليه شيئا، ولا ينقص منه شيئا، قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن صدق ليدخلن الجنة.
Nasai (459) narrated it from Qutayba, who said, Nuh bin Qays narrated to us, from Khalid bin Qays, from Qatada, from Anas, and he related the hadith. Its isnad is sahih. Nuh bin Qays was deemed reliable by Ahmad, Ibn Main, Abu Dawud, Ajli, and others. Khalid bin Qays was deemed reliable by Ibn Main and Ajli, and Ibn Madini said, "There is no harm in him."This hadith is an abridged version of what Muslim narrated at greater length in the Book of Faith (10) through another route from Anas, in which he said, We were forbidden to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about anything, so we were pleased when an intelligent man from the desert people would come and ask him while we listened. A man from the desert people came and asked several questions, among them saying, "Your messenger claims that we owe five prayers in our day and night." He said, "He has told the truth." The man asked about the rest of the laws of Islam, then turned away, saying, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I will not add to them nor take away from them." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "If he has told the truth, he will surely enter Paradise."This hadith has already been given in full in the Book of Faith.
