The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to wipe over our leather socks for one day and night when residing at home, and for three days when travelling.
إن رسول الله ﷺ أمرنا أن نمسح على الخفين يوما وليلة في الحضر، وللمسافر ثلاثا.
Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat, Majma Bahrayn (469), saying, Abdan bin Muhammad Marwazi told us, from Qutayba bin Saeed, from Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman Rawasi, from Hasan the butcher, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he related the hadith. He said, "No one narrated it from Nafi except Hasan."Its isnad is hasan because of Hasan the butcher, for no one deemed him trustworthy, though Ibn Hibban mentioned him in al-Thiqat (6/161). This is strengthened by what Zaylai mentioned in Nasb Raya (1/173), by way of Abdul-Razzaq, "Mamar told us, from Zuhri, from Salim, that Abdullah used to wipe over the leather socks, and he would say, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that.'" He said, "This is a sahih chain," but I did not find it in Musannaf of Abdul-Razzaq, so look, where is it?
