Iyad bin Himar reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said one day in his sermon, "My Lord has commanded me to teach you what you do not know from what He has taught me this day. Every wealth I have granted to a servant is lawful. I created all My servants with an upright nature, but the devils came to them and turned them away from their religion. They forbade them what I had made lawful for them and commanded them to associate with Me that for which I had sent down no authority. Allah looked upon the people of the earth and despised them, both Arab and non-Arab, except for some remnants of the People of the Book."And He said, "I have sent you only to test you and to test others through you. I have revealed to you a Book that water cannot wash away, which you will recite whether asleep or awake. Allah has commanded me to burn Quraysh."I said, "Lord, then they would crush my head until it becomes like a piece of bread."He said, "Drive them out as they drove you out, and fight them, We will support you. Spend, and We will spend on you. Send forth an army, We will send five like it. Fight alongside those who obey you against those who disobey you."He said, "The people of Paradise are three: a just ruler who gives in charity and is granted success, a merciful man tender of heart toward every relative and Muslim, and a chaste man who refrains from begging though he has a family to support."He said, "The people of the Fire are five: the weak who have no restraint, those among you who are mere followers seeking neither family nor wealth, the treacherous one whose greed is never hidden, even in the smallest matter, but he betrays it, a man who does not pass a morning or evening without trying to deceive you regarding your family and your wealth," and he mentioned miserliness or lying, "and the rude, foul-mouthed person."Abu Ghassan did not mention in his version, "Spend, and We will spend on you."
