The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Paradise and Hellfire disputed with one another. Hellfire said, 'Within me are the tyrants and the arrogant.' Paradise said, 'Within me are the weak among people and the poor.'So Allah judged between them, saying, 'You are Paradise, My mercy. Through you I show mercy to whom I will. And you are Hellfire, My punishment. Through you I punish whom I will. And it is upon Me to fill both of you.'"
Muslim narrated it in Paradise, its Bliss and Its People (2847), and Imam Ahmad (11754), both of them from Uthman bin Muhammad, who said, Jareer narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Saeed Khudri, who said, and he mentioned it. The wording is Ahmad's, for Muslim did not give its wording but simply referred to the hadith of Abu Hurairah mentioned before it.
