The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate from the shoulder of a sheep, then rinsed his mouth, washed his hands, and prayed.
أن رسول الله ﷺ أكل كتف شاة فمضمض، وغسل يديه، وصلى.
Ibn Majah (493) reported it, saying, Muhammad bin Abdul-Malik bin Abu Shawarib told us, Abdul-Aziz bin Mukhtar told us, Suhayl told us, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Muhammad bin Abdul-Malik bin Abu Shawarib. Nasai said, "There is no harm in him." It has also been corroborated, for Ibn Khuzayma (42) reported it, and from his route Ibn Hibban (1051) reported it, from Ahmad bin Abdah Dabbi, Abdul-Aziz told us, meaning Ibn Muhammad Darawardi, from Suhayl with the same chain, and its wording was, from Abu Hurairah, that he saw the Prophetﷺ perform wudu after eating a piece of dried yogurt, then he saw him eat the shoulder of a sheep, then he prayed without performing wudu.Busiri said in his Zawaid, "The men of its chain are trustworthy."Tirmidhi said, following the hadith of Jabir, "The practice among most of the people of knowledge among the companions of the Prophetﷺ, the successors, and those after them, such as Sufyan, Ibn Mubarak, Shafii, Ahmad, and Ishaq, is that they held the view that wudu is not required from what fire has touched."I say, a group of the people of knowledge held that wudu is obligatory from what fire has touched, among them Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, Hasan Basri, Zuhri, Abu Qilaba, and Abu Majliz. Then this disagreement came to an end after them, and it became like a consensus that wudu is not nullified by what fire has touched.
