The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and said, "Women, give in charity, even from your jewelry, for you will make up the majority of the people of Hellfire on the Day of Resurrection."
خطبنا رسول الله ﷺ فقال: يا معشر النساء تصدقن، ولو من حليكن؛ فإنكن أكثر أهل جهنم يوم القيامة.
Tirmidhi (635), Ibn Majah (1834), and Ahmad (27048) all narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (4248) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Abu Muawiya Muhammad bin Khazim, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Shaqiq, from Amr bin Harith bin Mustaliq, from the nephew of Zaynab, the wife of Abdullah, from Zaynab, and he then related the hadith. The wording given is that of Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah did not mention this particular wording. An error occurred in the isnad on the part of Abu Muawiya, which Tirmidhi pointed out, saying, "Abu Muawiya erred in his hadith, saying, Amr bin Harith, from the nephew of Zaynab, but the correct version is that it is Amr bin Harith, the nephew of Zaynab." This is indeed as he said, for Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1466) through the route of Hafs bin Ghiyath, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1000) through his route and through the route of Abu Ahwas, and Tirmidhi (636), Nasai (5/92-93), and Ahmad (16082) narrated it through the route of Shuba, and Ibn Khuzayma (2463, 2464) narrated it through the route of Ibn Numayr and Ibn Fudayl, all of them from Amash, who said, I heard Abu Waail narrating from Amr bin Harith, the nephew of Zaynab, the wife of Abdullah, from Zaynab, the wife of Abdullah, from the Prophet ﷺ, with similar wording, that is, similar to the hadith of Abu Muawiya.Tirmidhi said, "This is more correct than the hadith of Abu Muawiya," and then he mentioned the error of Abu Muawiya as noted above.I say, what Tirmidhi stated is correct, and it has been related from Bukhari that he judged the narration of Abu Muawiya to contain an error, and that the correct version is the narration of the group, from Amash, from Shaqiq, from Amr bin Harith, the nephew of Zaynab. However, I have not come across the wording with which I opened this chapter except in the narration of Abu Muawiya, so perhaps others abridged the hadith. But those who related it at length, such as the two Shaykhs, likewise did not mention the wording used at the head of this chapter. For this reason, I opened the hadith with the narration of Abu Muawiya, and it is mentioned in full in the Book of Zakat, so take note of that.
