The last of the two practices from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was abandoning ablution for what fire has touched.
كان آخر الأمرين من رسول الله ﷺ ترك الوضوء مما غيرت النار.
Abu Dawud (192) and Nasai (185) narrated it from the hadith of Ali bin Ayyash, who said, Shuayb bin Abu Hamza narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir. In the version of Nasai, Muhammad bin Munkadir said, "I heard Jabir." Abu Dawud said, "This is an abridgment of the first hadith."I say, it is possible that Ibn Munkadir heard it in two ways, once through an intermediary and once without an intermediary, and so it was narrated in two forms, which is a well known matter in the science of hadith. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Ibn Khuzayma (43) also graded it sahih from this route.
