Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (3517) from Fadl bin Yaqub, who said, Muhammad bin Yusuf Firyabi told us, from Sufyan, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, and he related it. Muhammad bin Yusuf Firyabi made an error in some of Sufyan's hadith, as Ibn Hajar said, but he was not alone in narrating it, rather he was corroborated. Tabarani narrated it in Majma Bahrayn (4876) from Miqdam bin Dawud, who said, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Mughira told us, who said, Sufyan told us, with the same chain. So it appears that Firyabi did not err in this particular hadith. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Mughira is also not strong, but the corroboration of one by the other strengthens the hadith, raising it to the level of hasan.Tabarani also narrated it in Majma Bahrayn (4875) through another route from Jabir, similar to it. This route contains Musab bin Ibrahim Qaysi, who is daif.The hadith has also been narrated as a mursal report, and Abu Hatim and Daraqutni consider it preferable over the connected version.
