I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "A group of my nation will enter Paradise numbering seventy thousand, their faces shining like the brightness of the moon."Ukkashah bin Mihsan al-Asadi stood up, lifting his striped cloak, and said, "Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah that He make me one of them."He said, "O Allah, make him one of them."Then a man from the Ansar stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah that He make me one of them."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Ukkashah has beaten you to it."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: يدخل الجنة من أمتي زمرة هي سبعون ألفا، تضيء وجوههم إضاءة القمر فقام عكاشة بن محصن الأسدي، يرفع نمرة عليه، قال: ادع الله لي يا رسول الله أن يجعلني منهم، فقال: اللهم اجعله منهم ثم قام رجل من الأنصار فقال: يا رسول الله، ادع الله أن يجعلني منهم، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: سبقك عكاشة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5811) from Abu Yaman, who said, Shuayb informed us, from Zuhri, who said, Saeed bin Musayab told me, that Abu Hurairah said, then he mentioned the hadith. He also narrated it (6542) through the route of Abdullah, that is, Ibn Wahb, who said, Yunus informed us, from Zuhri, with a chain close to it. And from this route Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (369:216).
