The Messenger of Allah ﷺ burst into laughter one day, so he was asked, "Messenger of Allah, what made you laugh?"He replied, "A people who are driven to Paradise bound in chains."
استضحك رسول الله ﷺ يوما، فقيل له: يا رسول الله، ما أضحكك؟ قال: قوم يساقون إلى الجنة مقرنين في السلاسل.
Ahmad (22203), Tabarani in al-Kabir (8/340), and Bayhaqi in Shuab (3605) all narrated it through the route of Abdullah bin Numayr, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Husayn bin Waqid Khurasani, from Abu Ghalib, from Abu Umama, and he related it.Its chain is hasan on account of Abu Ghalib, who is the Basran, the companion of Abu Umama, for he is hasan al-hadith when he does not contradict others and does not bring forth something that would be rejected of him.Ahmad (22148) also narrated it from Muhammad bin Ubayd, who said, Amash narrated to us, from a shaykh, from Abu Umama, relating something similar. This unnamed shaykh may well be Abu Ghalib al-Basri.
