We laid siege along with the Prophet of Allah ﷺ to the fortress of Taif, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever lands an arrow shall have a rank in Paradise." That day, I landed sixteen arrows.
حاصرنا مع نبي الله ﷺ حصن الطائف، فسمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: من بلغ بسهم فله درجة الجنة قال: فبلغت يومئذ ستة عشر سهما.
Ahmad (17022), Abu Dawud (3965), Tirmidhi (1638), and Nasai (26/6) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (4615) and Hakim (2/95) graded it sahih, all of them from the hadith of Hisham bin Abu Abdullah, from Qatada, from Salim bin Abu Jaad, from Madan bin Abu Talha, from Abu Najih Sulami, who related it. The wording given is Ahmad's, and in his version it is longer, having already been mentioned in its place.
