I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The Bridge will be set across the middle of Hell, upon it thorns like the thorns of the Sadan plant. Then the people will be made to cross. Some will pass safely as Muslims, some will be wounded by it but still pass through, some will be held back by it, and others will be cast headlong into Hell." The hadith continues at length.
Ahmad (11081) narrated it, and this is his wording, as did Ibn Khuzayma in Tawhid (648), Ibn Majah (4280) in an abridged form, and Hakim (4/585–586), who graded it sahih. All of them narrated it through Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said, Ubaydullah bin Mughira bin Muayqib narrated to me, from Sulayman bin Amr bin Abdul-Atwari, one of Banu Layth, who had been an orphan under the care of Abu Saeed, who said, I heard Abu Saeed say, and then he related it.Its chain is hasan, because it contains Muhammad bin Ishaq, who explicitly stated that he heard the narration directly.
