The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever strikes someone unjustly will be subjected to retaliation for it on the Day of Resurrection."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: من ضرب ضربا ظلما اقتص منه يوم القيامة.

Bukhari narrated it in Adab al-Mufrad (186) and Bazzar (9535), both through the route of Abdullah bin Raja, who said, Abu Awwam Imran Qattan narrated to us, from Qatada, from Abdullah bin Shaqiq, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Imran bin Dawwar Qattan, for his hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others and does not bring something objectionable, and Haythami declared it hasan in Majma (10/353).However, Daraqutni found fault with it in his Ilal (2113) because of a contradiction from Muhammad bin Bilal, who narrated it from Imran, from Qatada, from Zurara bin Awfa, from Abu Hurairah. He said, "There is nothing sahih in it." So said he, may Allah have mercy on him. Abdullah bin Raja is Ibn Umar Ghudani Basri, truthful, and there is no harm in him according to the majority of scholars. That is why Bazzar, after mentioning this disagreement, said, "Abdullah bin Raja is better known than Muhammad bin Bilal," which is a preference on his part. So the contradiction from Muhammad bin Bilal does not undermine the soundness of this hadith. It was also narrated from Ayesha that a man sat before the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have slaves who lie to me, betray me, and disobey me, and I curse them and beat them. What is my situation with them?" He said, "Their betrayal of you, their disobedience to you, their lying to you, and your punishment of them will be weighed. If your punishment of them matches the measure of their sins, it will be even, neither for you nor against you. If your punishment of them falls short of their sins, it will be credit in your favor. And if your punishment of them exceeds their sins, the excess will be taken from you on their behalf."He said, the man then withdrew and began to weep and cry out. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do you not recite the Book of Allah, "We shall set up the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection, so that no soul will be wronged in the least. And if there be the weight..." [Anbiya 21:47]?" The man said, "By Allah, Messenger of Allah, I find nothing better for me and for them than to part with them. I call you to witness that they are all free."Tirmidhi narrated it (3165) through several routes from Abdul-Rahman bin Ghazwan, Abu Nuh, who said, Layth bin Saad narrated to us, from Malik bin Anas, from Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. He said, "This is a gharib hadith. We do not know it except through the narration of Abdul-Rahman bin Ghazwan. Ahmad bin Hanbal narrated this hadith from Abdul-Rahman bin Ghazwan." And it is as he said, for Ahmad narrated it in his Musnad (26401) from Abu Nuh Abdul-Rahman bin Ghazwan, from Layth bin Saad, in similar wording.Ahmad bin Salih was asked about this hadith of Qarad and said, "This is false, one of the things people have fabricated, and not everyone is precise about these matters." Perhaps Abdul-Rahman bin Ghazwan was not precise and did not notice this, even though he is trustworthy, and this is not actually from the hadith of Malik. Daraqutni transmitted from his teacher Abu Bakr Nisaburi that he said, "This is not from the hadith of Malik, and Qarad erred in it. The correct version is from Layth, as Bahr bin Nasr narrated to us from his book, saying, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying, Layth informed me, from Ziyad bin Ajlan, from Ziyad, the freed slave of Ibn Ayyash, who said, a man came and sat before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he mentioned it."Ibn Hajar mentioned all of this in Tahdhib al-Tahdhib. This chain is disconnected, because Layth bin Saad did not meet Ziyad bin Ajlan.Imam Ahmad mentioned the second chain immediately after the first one, saying, "And from some of their teachers, that Ziyad, the freed slave of Abdullah bin Ayyash bin Abu Rabia, narrated to them from someone who narrated to him from the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned it." This contains an unnamed narrator.
