The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is not one of you but his Lord will speak to him without an interpreter between them. He will look to his right and see nothing but the deeds he has sent forth, he will look to his left and see nothing but the deeds he has sent forth, and he will look in front of him and see nothing but the Fire facing him. So guard yourselves against the Fire, even with half a date."Another narration adds, "Even with a kind word."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Monotheism (7512), and Muslim in the Book of Zakat (1016:67), both through Isa bin Yunus, from Amash, from Khaythama, from Adi bin Hatim, who related it. Amash said, Amr bin Mura also related it to me, from Khaythama, similarly, adding to it, "even with a kind word."
