By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not single us out with anything to the exclusion of other people, except for three things. He commanded us to perform ablution thoroughly, not to consume charity, and not to mate donkeys with horses.
والله ما خصنا رسول الله ﷺ بشيء دون الناس، إلا ثلاثة أشياء؛ فإنه أمرنا أن نسبغ الوضوء، ولا نأكل الصدقة، ولا تنزي الحمر على الخيل.
Reported by Abu Dawud (808) in the chapter on prayer, within a long hadith, which will be repeated in the chapter on the length of recitation in the Dhuhr and Asr prayers. Also by Nasai (141) and Tirmidhi (1710), the wording being theirs, and Ibn Majah (426), all of them from the hadith of Abu Jahdam Musa bin Salim, from Abdullah bin Ubaydullah bin Abbas, from Ibn Abbas. Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih.I say, its chain is hasan because of Abu Jahdam Musa bin Salim, the client of the family of Abbas, for he is truthful.Musa bin Salim said, I met Abdullah bin Hasan and said, "Abdullah bin Ubaydullah told me such and such." He said, "Horses were few among Banu Hashim, so he wished to make them more numerous among them."Reported by Ibn Khuzayma (1/89, no. 175).
