Miqdad bin Aswad said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'On the Day of Resurrection, the sun will be brought near to creation until it is only a mile away from them.'"Salim bin Amir said, "By Allah, I do not know what he meant by 'mile.' Did he mean a measure of distance on the ground, or the kohl-stick used to apply kohl to the eye?"He continued, "People will be in sweat according to their deeds. Some will be in it up to their ankles, some up to their knees, some up to their waists, and some will be completely overwhelmed by sweat as if bridled by it."The narrator added that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured with his hand toward his mouth.
Muslim narrated it in the book of Paradise and its description of bliss (2864), from Hakam bin Musa, who said, Yahya bin Hamza narrated to us, from Abdul-Rahman bin Jabir, who said, Salim bin Amir narrated to me, and he mentioned it.
