He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Muhammad, I have sworn by the number of my fingers that I would not follow you nor follow your religion. I implore you by Allah, what is it that Allah has sent you with?"He replied, "Islam, to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, and to give zakat. They are two supporting companions. Allah does not accept the repentance of anyone who associates partners with Him after embracing Islam."The man asked, "What is the right of our wives upon us?"He answered, "You feed her when you eat, you clothe her when you clothe yourself, you do not strike the face, you do not insult her, and you do not abandon her except within the house."Then he gestured with his hand toward Sham and said, "From here to here you will be gathered, riding and walking, and on your faces on the Day of Resurrection, with muzzles upon your mouths. You will complete seventy nations, you being the best of them and the most honored before Allah. The first part of a person to speak will be his thigh."
Ahmad (20011) narrated it, and Nasai in Al-Kubra (11367), whose wording is given here, both by way of Shibl bin Abbad, who said, I heard Abu Qazaa, who is Suwayd bin Hujayr Bahili, narrating to Amr bin Dinar, from Hakeem bin Muawiya, from his father, and he related it.Tirmidhi (3001) and Ibn Majah (4287, 4288) both narrated it through routes from Bahz bin Hakeem bin Muawiya, from his father, from his grandfather, that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say, regarding His words "You were the best nation brought forth for mankind" [Al Imran 3:110], "You complete seventy nations, you are the best of them and the most honored before Allah."Its isnad is hasan because of Hakeem bin Muawiya, for his hadith is hasan. His statement, "Allah does not accept the repentance of anyone who commits shirk against Allah after his Islam," means that he died upon shirk, so the repentance by which he had entered Islam is not accepted by Allah .
