"The people of Iraq are about to find that no measure of grain nor a single dirham will be brought to them as tribute."We asked, "Why is that?"He replied, "Because of the Persians. They will prevent it."Then he said, "The people of Sham are about to find that no dinar nor measure of food will be brought to them as tribute."We asked, "Why is that?"He replied, "Because of the Romans."Then he was silent for a moment, then said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be at the end of my nation a caliph who will scoop out wealth in handfuls without counting it."Jareeri said, I asked Abu Nadra and Abu Ala, "Do you think this refers to Umar bin Abd al-Aziz?"They both said, "No."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations (2913:67) through several channels, from Ismail bin Ibrahim, from Jareeri, from Abu Nadra, who said, "We were with Jabir bin Abdullah when he said," and he then related it.This caliph is the Mahdi, as mentioned in other hadiths.
