Hakim narrated it (4/557-558) from Abu Abbas Muhammad bin Ahmad Mahbubi in Marw, who said, Saeed bin Masud told us, Nadr bin Shumayl told us, Sulayman bin Ubayd told us, Abu Siddiq Naji told us, from Abu Saeed Khudri, and he related it. Hakim said, "This hadith has a sahih chain of transmission." And it is as he said. Sulayman bin Ubayd is Sulami, whom Ibn Main deemed trustworthy, and Abu Hatim said, "Truthful," and he has a biographical entry in Al-Jarh wal-Tadeel.Ahmad narrated it (11163), and the wording given is his, and Tirmidhi (2232), both from the hadith of Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shubah told us, who said, I heard Zayd Abu Hawari say, I heard Abu Siddiq relate from Abu Saeed Khudri who said, We feared that something had happened after our Prophet, so we asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "The Mahdi will emerge among my nation, for five, or seven, or nine" - Zayd was uncertain - he said, We asked, "What is meant?" He said, "Years." Then he said, "The sky will pour down abundant rain upon them, and the earth will withhold nothing of its produce, and wealth will be piled up." He said, "A man will come to him and say, 'O Mahdi, give me, give me.'" He said, "So he will scoop into his garment as much as he is able to carry."Ibn Majah narrated it (4083), and Hakim (4/558), by way of Umarah bin Abu Hafsa, from Zayd Ammi, in similar fashion.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith, and it has been narrated through more than one route from Abu Saeed, from the Prophet ﷺ."I say, in its chain is Zayd Abu Hawari, who is Ammi, and he is daif, and the hadith has been narrated through more than one route from Abu Saeed, as Tirmidhi said.
