Aishah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A group of people will seek refuge at this House," meaning the Kaabah, "who have no strength, no numbers, and no equipment. An army will be sent against them, but when they reach an open stretch of land, they will be swallowed up by the earth."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: سيعوذ بهذا البيت- يعني الكعبة- قوم ليست لهم منعة، ولا عدد ولا عدة، يبعث إليهم جيش، حتى إذا كانوا ببيداء من الأرض خسف بهم.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Tribulations and the Signs of the Hour (2883:7), from Muhammad bin Hatim bin Maymun, who said, Walid bin Salih narrated to us, who said, Ubaydullah bin Amr narrated to us, who said, Zayd bin Abu Unaysa narrated to us, from Abdul-Malik Amiri, from Yusuf bin Mahak, who said, Abdullah bin Safwan informed me, from the Mother of the Believers, and he mentioned it.Yusuf (that is, bin Mahak) said, "At that time the people of Syria were marching toward Makkah." Abdullah bin Safwan said, "By Allah, it was not with this army."
