The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until you fight the Khuz and Kirman, peoples from among the non-Arabs. They have red faces, flat noses, and small eyes. Their faces are like layered shields, and their sandals are made of hair."
Bukhari related it in the Book of Virtues (3590) from Yahya, who said, Abdul-Razzaq told us, from Mamar, from Hammam, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.His saying "the Turks" refers to the descendants of Afridun bin Sam bin Nuh, and their lands are called Turkestan, which lies between the eastern regions of Khurasan and the western regions of China, and the north of Hind, at the farthest edge of the inhabited world. This is supported by his saying, "until you fight Khuz and Kirman among the non-Arabs," for they belong to these lands. There has also come, in a hadith with a hasan chain, as a saying attributed to the Prophet, "Leave the Ethiopians alone as long as they leave you alone, and leave the Turks alone as long as they leave you alone."Abu Dawud related it (4302) from Isa bin Muhammad Ramli, who said, Damra told us, from Saybani, from Abu Sakina, a man among the freedmen, from a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned it.Nasai related it (3176) from Isa bin Yunus, who said, Damra told us with his chain a lengthy hadith, and it is presented in the account of the Battle of the Trench. Its chain is hasan because of Damra, who is Ibn Rabia Filastini, for he is hasan al-hadith. And Abu Sakina's status as a companion is disputed. The meaning of the hadith is, do not initiate war against the Ethiopians and the Turks, for the lands of Ethiopia are rugged and difficult, while the Turks possess great might and their lands are extremely cold. But if they fight you, then kill them.
