The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until nearly thirty deceiving liars are sent forth, each one claiming to be a messenger of Allah."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا تقوم الساعة حتى يبعث دجالون كذابون قريب من ثلاثين، كلهم يزعم أنه رسول الله.
Bukhari narrated it in Fitan (7121), and Muslim in Fitan (157: 84) following hadith (2923), both through Abu Zinad, from Abdul-Rahman Araj, from Abu Hurairah, who narrated it as mentioned. Bukhari's version is long. His statement, "nearly thirty," refers to those among them, including Musaylima the Liar and Mukhtar bin Abu Ubayd Thaqafi, for Ibrahim Nakhai asked Ubayda Salmani, "Do you think this man is one of them?" Ubayda replied, "Indeed, he is one of the ringleaders," as is found in Sunan Abu Dawud (4335).
