The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Among the signs of the Hour is that a man will greet another with peace only because he knows him personally."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن من أشراط الساعة أن يسلم الرجل على الرجل، لا يسلم عليه إلا للمعرفة.
Ahmad (3848) narrated it from Abu Nadr, who said, Sharik told us, from Ayyash Amiri, from Aswad bin Hilal, from Ibn Masud, and he related it. Sharik is Ibn Abdullah Nakhai, whose memory was poor.Ahmad (3664) also narrated it from Ibn Numayr, from Mujalid, from Amir (that is, Shaybi), from Aswad bin Yazid (who is Nakhai), from Ibn Masud, in similar fashion. Mujalid bin Saeed is not strong.Taking the two chains together, the hadith becomes hasan. It was also narrated at greater length by another route from Ibn Masud, which is the hadith that follows.
