The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until time draws close together, so that a year will be like a month, a month will be like a week, a week will be like a day, a day will be like an hour, and an hour will be like the burning of a palm frond."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا تقوم الساعة حتى يتقارب الزمان، فتكون السنة كالشهر، ويكون الشهر كالجمعة، وتكون الجمعة كاليوم، ويكون اليوم كالساعة، وتكون الساعة كاحتراق السعفة.
Ahmad (10943), Tahawi in Sharh Mushkil (2986), and Ibn Hibban (6842) all narrated it through routes from Zuhayr bin Muawiya, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.As for his saying "the palm frond," Suhayl bin Abu Salih explained that it means the leaflet, which is the leaf of the palm tree.A similar meaning is found in a report from Anas bin Malik, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until time draws close together, so that a year becomes like a month, a month becomes like a week, a week becomes like a day, a day becomes like an hour, and an hour becomes like the flare of a fire."Tirmidhi (2332) and Bazzar (6216) both narrated it through the route of Abdullah bin Umar Umari, from Saad bin Saeed, from Anas bin Malik, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is daif, for Abdullah bin Umar Umari, who is daif, was the sole transmitter of this report from Saad bin Saeed. This is why Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith from this route, and Saad bin Saeed is the brother of Yahya bin Saeed Ansari."
