The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A time will come upon my Ummah when reciters will be many, jurists will be few, knowledge will be taken away, and harj will increase."They asked, "What is harj?"He replied, "Killing among you. Then after that will come a time when Some men will recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their throats. Then a time will come when the hypocrite, the polytheist, and the believer will dispute with one another."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: سيأتي على أمتي زمان يكثر فيه القراء، ويقل الفقهاء، ويقبض العلم، ويكثر الهرج، قالوا: وما الهرج؟ قال: القتل بينكم، ثم يأتي بعد ذلك زمان، يقرأ القرآن رجال لا يجاوز تراقيهم، ثم يأتي زمان يجادل المنافق المشرك المؤمن.
Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat, Majma Bahrain (273), and Hakim (4/457), and Ibn Abdul-Barr in Jami Bayan Ilm (1043), all of them by way of Darraj, from Abdul-Rahman bin Hujayrah, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan on account of Darraj Abu Samh, for his hadith is hasan when he narrates from someone other than Abu Haytham, and the discussion of this is set out in detail in the Book of Knowledge.
