The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to me saying, "Ayesha, your people will be the swiftest of my nation to follow me."When he sat down, I said, "Messenger of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, you came in saying something that alarmed me."He asked, "What was it?"She said, "You claim that my people will be the swiftest of your nation to follow you."He said, "Yes."She asked, "Why is that?"He replied, "Death will find them sweet, and other nations will envy them what they have."I said, "How will people be after that, or at that time?"He said, "Like locusts, the strong among them devouring the weak, until the Hour comes upon them."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, A man explained "dabā" as the young locusts whose wings have not yet grown.
دخل علي رسول الله ﷺ وهو يقول: يا عائشة، قومك أسرع أمتي بي لحاقا قالت: فلما جلس قلت: يا رسول الله جعلني الله فداءك، لقد دخلت وأنت تقول كلاما ذعر ني قال: وما هو: قالت: تزعم أن قومي أسرع أمتك بك لحاقا قال: نعم قالت: ومم ذاك؟ قال: تستحليهم المنايا، وتنفس عليهم أمتهم قالت: فقلت: فكيف الناس بعد ذلك أو عند ذلك؟ قال: دبي يأكل شداده ضعافه حتى تقوم عليهم الساعة. قال أبو عبد الرحمن: فسره رجل هو: الجنادب التي لم تنبت أجنحتها.
Ahmad (24519, 24596) narrated it from Hashim bin Qasim, who said, Ishaq bin Saeed (that is, the son of Amr bin Saeed bin As) told us, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.The hadith has other routes as well. Among them is what Ahmad (24457) narrated from Musa bin Dawud, who said, Abdullah bin Muammal told us, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Ayesha, who said, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Ayesha, the first of the people to perish will be your tribe." She said, I said, "May Allah make me your ransom, is it the Banu Taym?" He said, "No, but this clan of Quraysh, death will find them sweet, and they will be the first of the people to perish, one after another." I said, "Then how long will the people remain after them?" He said, "They are the backbone of the people, and when they perish, the people will perish."Abdullah bin Muammal has some weakness in him, but he has been corroborated in the substance of the hadith.
