The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Iraq will withhold its dirham and its qafiz, Syria will withhold its mudd and its Dinar, and Egypt will withhold its irdabb and its Dinar. You will return to where you began, you will return to where you began, you will return to where you began. The flesh and blood of Abu Hurairah bear witness to this."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: منعت العراق درهمها وقفيزها، ومنعت الشام مديها ودينارها، ومنعت مصر إردبها ودينارها، وعدتم من حيث بدأتم، وعدتم من حيث بدأتم، وعدتم من حيث بدأتم، شهد على ذلك لحم أبي هريرة ودمه.
Recorded by Muslim in "Tribulations and the Signs of the Hour" (2896) through various routes from Yahya bin Adam bin Sulayman, the freedman of Khalid bin Khalid, who said, our teacher Zuhayr narrated to us, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he related it.His saying, "the qafiz," refers to a measure well known to the people of Iraq. Azhari said, it equals eight makakik, and a makkuk is a saa and a half.His saying, "the madi," on the pattern of the word "qufl," refers to a measure well known to the people of Syria. The scholars said it holds fifteen makakik.His saying, "the irdabb," refers to a measure well known to the people of Egypt, holding twenty-four saas.
