Abu Habiba reported,
He entered the house while Uthman was besieged inside it, and he heard Abu Hurayrah ask Uthman for permission to speak. Uthman granted him permission, so he stood, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'After me you will encounter trial and discord,'" or he said, "'discord and trial.'"Someone from the people asked him, "Messenger of Allah, who shall we turn to?"He replied, "Hold fast to the trustworthy one and his companions," pointing to Uthman as he said this.

أنه دخل الدار، وعثمان محصور فيها، وأنه سمع أبا هريرة يستأذن عثمان في الكلام، فأذن له، فقام فحمد الله، وأثنى عليه، ثم قال: إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إنكم تلقون بعدي فتنة واختلافا، أو قال اختلافا وفتنة، فقال له قائل من الناس: فمن لنا يا رسول الله؟ قال: عليكم بالأمين وأصحابه، وهو يشير إلى عثمان بذلك.
Ahmad (8541) narrated it, and this is his wording, as did Ibn Abu Shayba (32712), and Hakim graded it sahih (3/99), all of them through the route of Musa bin Uqba, who said, "My grandfather on my mother's side, Abu Habiba, narrated to me," and then he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Abu Habiba, who was the freedman of Zubayr bin Awwam. His name is not known. A group of narrators reported from him, and Ajli and Ibn Hibban ruled him trustworthy. He belongs to the generation of the Tabiin. Abu Ahmad Hakim said, "His hadith is among the people of Madinah," meaning that he was known among the people of Madinah.Note, in Hakim's version "Abu Habiba" was corrupted to "Abu Hasana."
