The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A time will surely come upon my nation when people will wish for the Dajjal."I asked, "Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, why is that?"He replied, "Because of the hardship or the suffering they will endure."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ليأتين على أمتي زمان يتمنون فيه الدجال قلت: يا رسول الله بأبي وأمي مم ذاك؟ قال: مما يلقون من الضناء أو العناء.
Tabarani reported it in Al-Awsat (4301) from Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal, who said, Ahmad bin Umar Al-Wakiei told us, who said, Qabisa bin Uqba told us, who said, Ubayd bin Tufail Abu Saydan Absi told us, who said, I heard Shaddad bin Ammar say, Huzaifa said, then he mentioned it. Tabarani said, "No one narrated this hadith from Ubayd bin Tufail except Qabisa, and Ahmad bin Umar Al-Wakiei alone narrated it from him."This is not as he said, for Bukhari also reported it in Tarikh al-Kabir (4/225) from Qabisa. Bazzar also reported it (2849) from Qasim bin Bishr bin Maruf, who said, Qabisa bin Uqba informed us, who said, Ubayd bin Tufail informed us, from Rubai bin Harrash, from Huzaifa, similarly. So the narrator from Huzaifa was named as Rubai bin Harrash, who is trustworthy. Perhaps both of them, Shaddad bin Ammar and Rubai bin Harrash, narrated it from Huzaifa. The chain is hasan on account of Qabisa and Ubayd bin Tufail, for both of them are truthful narrators.
