The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Islam will wear away just as the embroidery of a garment wears away, until no one will know what fasting is, nor prayer, nor the rites of pilgrimage, nor charity. The Book of Allah will be taken away in a single night, so that not a single verse of it will remain on earth. Groups of people will remain, including the elderly man and the old woman, who will say, 'We found our forefathers upon this word, la ilaha illa Allah, so we say it too.'"Sila said to him, "What will la ilaha illa Allah avail them when they do not know what prayer is, nor fasting, nor the rites of pilgrimage, nor charity?"Hudhayfah turned away from him. Sila repeated the question three times, and each time Hudhayfah turned away from him. Then on the third time, Hudhayfah faced him and said, "Sila, it will save them from the Fire," saying it three times.
Ibn Majah (4049) and Hakim (4/473) both narrated it through Abu Muawiya, from Abu Malik Ashjai, from Rabi bin Harash, from Huzaifa, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith according to the criterion of Muslim."
